How can I turn off Sparks on a Mac computer?

Turning off Sparks is simple. Below, we’ve included steps to show you how to turn it off within each ProWritingAid integration on a Mac computer.

If you're using a Windows computer, you can find instructions for turning off Sparks here.

Web Editor

To turn off our Sparks features in the Web Editor, please follow the below steps.

  1. Click on the Menu tab in the top left-hand corner of the Editor.
  2. You should see the 'Show Spark Toolbar' option listed in the drop down menu.
  3. Press the slider next to that option (as shown in the below screenshot) to toggle our Sparks features on or off.


ProWritingAid Desktop Everywhere for Mac

To turn off our Sparks features in ProWritingAid Desktop Everywhere for Mac, please see the below steps.

  1. Click on the ProWritingAid Desktop Everywhere icon in the top toolbar of your screen
  2. Then, click ‘Settings’

  1. You should see the ‘Show Sparks Toolbar’ option in the pop-up that will appear. Like this:

  1. Simply uncheck that option to turn off Sparks for your ProWritingAid Desktop Everywhere for Mac integration.


Chrome Browser Extension

To turn off our Sparks feature in the Chrome browser extension, please follow the below steps.

  1. Click on the PWA logo through extensions bar in the top right-hand corner of your browser.
  2. Un-check the option circled below to disable Sparks in your browser extension.


Desktop Editor

⚠️ This section shows an older version of our brand look and feel. Other integrations and extensions available may look different to the screenshots below.

We won’t be updating our Desktop Editor in the future. We recommend that you download ProWritingAid Desktop Everywhere, which is compatible with the most commonly used writing apps.

To turn off our Sparks features in the Desktop Editor, please see the below steps.

  1. Go to the 'Tools' tab at the top of the Desktop Editor.
  2. Hover over 'Sparks Toolbar'.
  3. Check the 'Disabled' option to disable Sparks.
