How can I turn off Sparks on a Windows device?

Turning off Sparks is simple, and we’ve included steps below to show you how to turn it off within each ProWritingAid integration on a Windows device.

If you're using a Mac device, you can find instructions for turning off Sparks here.

Web Editor

To turn off our Sparks features in your Web Editor, please follow the below steps.

  1. Click on the Menu tab in the top left-hand corner of the Editor.
  2. You should see the 'Show Spark Toolbar' option listed in the drop down menu.
  3. Press the slider next to that option (as shown in the below screenshot) to toggle our Sparks features on or off.

Word Add-in for Windows

To turn off Sparks in the Word Add-In for Windows, you can follow the below steps.

  1. If you haven't already, click on the ProWritingAid tab on your Word ribbon.

  1. Go to your ProWritingAid Word Add-In settings, which you can find here:

  1. This will open a new window. Make sure you have the circled option below un-checked to disable Sparks.

Desktop App

To turn off our Sparks feature in the Desktop App, please see the below steps.

  1. Go to the 'Tools' tab at the top of the Desktop App
  2. Click on 'Sparks Toolbar'
  3. Check the 'Disabled' option to disable Sparks.

ProWritingAid Everywhere for Windows

To turn off Sparks in ProWritingAid Everywhere for Windows, you can follow the below steps.

  1. Locate your ProWritingAid Everywhere icon on your desktop toolbar. For example:

  1. Right click on the ProWritingAid Everywhere icon, and select 'Settings' from the options that appear.

  1. Go to the 'Settings' section at the bottom of the pop-up that will appear. Please note that you may need to scroll, or move the right-hand side bar, down to find this. You can then un-check the Sparks settings there to disable them.

Chrome Browser Extension

To turn off our Sparks feature in the Chrome browser extension, please follow the below steps.

  1. Click on the PWA logo through extensions bar in the top right-hand corner of your browser.
  2. Un-check the option circled below to disable Sparks in your browser extension.
