How can I use Sparks and how does it work?
You can use Sparks within your documents in most of the ProWritingAid integrations and apps. Sparks works by analysing your writing and providing suggested improvements, inspiration, or AI generated content, which you can use to enhance your writing and editing process.
How do I get Sparks working in ProWritingAid?
You will need to ensure you’re using a compatible integration, including:
- Online Web Editor
- Desktop Editor for Mac and Windows
- Word Add-in for Windows
- ProWritingAid Desktop Everywhere for Mac
- ProWritingAid Desktop Everywhere for Windows
- Chrome and Firefox Web Extensions
You will also need to ensure you have enabled the Sparks toolbar in your settings within each integration.
In the Web Editor, you can click on the Menu button and you’ll see the setting:
Once you’ve ensured you’re using a compatible version of ProWritingAid, and you have enabled Sparks, you’re ready to start using it.
How does Sparks appear?
Sparks will appear just like our on-demand Rephrasing button, when you highlight/select some text using your cursor while you have the Realtime report running.
When you click on that button, you will be given several options to use on your writing. You’ll see the Sparks Edit options when you click, and if you scroll on the pop-up, you’ll see all the Sparks Continue options as well.
What happens when I click on a Sparks feature?
When you click on a Sparks feature in the list, a pop-up will appear and a suggestion will be generated.
If you click on a Sparks Edit feature, it will look like this:
For Sparks Edit features, you have the options to Replace, Try Again, or Copy. Replace will swap your original text for the AI generated one. Copy allows you to manually paste the new text into your document. Try Again lets you generate a new suggestion. Remember, any time you click Try Again, it will use another of your daily Sparks allowance credits.
If you click on a Sparks Continue feature, it will look like this:
For Sparks Continue features, you have the option to Copy and Try Again. These features do not replace the text within your document, but you can copy and paste the AI generated text into your document. If you don’t like the suggestion, you can click Try Again to see a new suggestion. Remember, any time you click Try Again, it will use another of your daily Sparks allowance credits.
