How to turn off Rephrase on a Mac device?

Turning off Rephrase is simple, and we’ve included steps below to show you how to turn it off within each ProWritingAid integration on a Mac device.

If you're using a Windows device, you can find instructions for turning off Rephrase here.

Web Editor

To turn off our Rephrase feature in your Web Editor, please follow the below steps.

  1. Click on the Menu tab in the top left-hand corner of the Editor.
  2. You should see the 'Show Rephrase Toolbar' option listed in the drop-down menu.
  3. Press the slider next to that option (as shown in the below screenshot) to toggle our Rephrase feature on or off.


Desktop App

To turn off our Rephrase feature in the Desktop App, please see the below steps.

  1. Go to the 'Tools' tab at the top of the Desktop App
  2. Click on 'Rephrase Toolbar'
  3. Check the 'Disabled' option to disabled rephrases.


ProWritingAid Everywhere for Mac

To turn off our Rephrase feature in ProWritingAid Everywhere for Mac, please see the below steps.

  1. Go to the ProWritingAid Everywhere icon in the top toolbar of your screen
  2. Then, click 'Settings'

3. You should see the 'Rephrase enabled' option in the pop-up that appears. Like this:

4. Simply uncheck that option to turn off rephrases for your ProWritingAid Everywhere for Mac integration.


Chrome Browser Extension

To turn off our Rephrase feature in your browser extension, please follow the below steps.

  1. Click on the PWA logo in your extensions bar in the top right-hand corner. You should then see a similar menu to the one below:

2. Un-check the option circled below to disable rephrases in your browser extension.
