How Do I Fix Installation Issues with Word Add-In (Windows only)?
Installation issues can happen for many reasons. Below, you will find information on fixes for potential installation issues you could experience with our Microsoft Word Add-In for Windows.
We recommend that you follow all these steps in order before contacting us.
We no longer support the Microsoft Office Add-In for Mac and won’t be updating this in the future. If you still use it, you may experience issues we are unable to control or resolve.
We recommend that you download ProWritingAid Desktop Everywhere, which works with Microsoft Word in Mac.
Check that Microsoft Word and Windows are up to date
Word Add-In for Windows works best with Word 2016, Word 2019, Word 2021, and Word for Office 365. Please make sure that you have the latest updates available for your version of Microsoft Word by following the steps listed here.
You will also need to have a supported version of Windows and all the available updates installed to use our Word Add-In successfully. You can find more information here.
If you’re not able to upgrade your version of Microsoft Word or Windows, you can still use our Web Editor to edit your documents with ProWritingAid.
Check that you have the latest VSTO runtime
You may need to update your version of VSTO runtime to install our Word Add-In for Windows. To do this, you can follow these steps:
- Close Word.
- Install the latest VSTO runtime.
- Run our Repair Tool to make sure the add-in is enabled.
- Launch Word and see if the issue is resolved.
Uninstall and reinstall
