Why isn't ProWritingAid working in Google Docs?

There may be a couple of reasons why ProWritingAid is not working with your Google Docs.

First, please make sure the email address associated with your ProWritingAid account is the same email address you're using to edit your Google Docs. For example: if the Gmail account you're trying to edit documents on is "email@gmail.com," you would need to make sure the email address associated with your ProWritingAid account is also "email@gmail.com." If the emails don't match, the Google Docs add-on won't be able to recognise your Premium version of our app.

If ProWritingAid is advising that you already have an account associated with your preferred Gmail account, there's a chance you might have already accidentally created a free account using this Gmail address. Please email our support team at hello@prowritingaid.com for further assistance.

Second, it is important to note that we have been experiencing some issues lately with our Google Docs add-on. Recent changes made by Google Docs affected how our ProWritingAid Google Docs add-on behaves. Please rest assured we are doing all we can to fix the issue you, and other users, are experiencing with this.

We cannot control the changes being made by Google Docs and, therefore, are still unable to provide an estimate as to when a fix for the add-on will become available. However, we have now released an update to our Chrome Browser Extension, which should help act as a workaround in the meantime.

Simply close your Chrome browser and re-open it to trigger our ProWritingAid Chrome Browser Extension update - this will happen automatically, so please know that a pop-up will not appear letting you know this has been completed. This update will allow our Chrome Browser Extension to once again work with Google Docs.
