How do I use Character Analysis?

Character Analysis is a report that helps you understand and improve the development of the characters in your story. It evaluates your cast of characters, generates relationship maps, and shows you character arcs and motivations.

How to run Character Analysis

If you’re using the Web Editor, under “Reports,” click on the “Critique” icon. We have highlighted this in red in the image below.

The “Critique” sidebar menu will appear in the right-hand side window. Click on “Character Analysis.” We have highlighted this in red in the image below.

If you’re using Desktop Everywhere, click on the floating ProWritingAid icon. Click on “Critique,” then click on “Character Analysis.”

Finally, click on the “Run Character Analysis” button and the report will run. It costs 1 Story Credit to run Plot Analysis once. Depending on the length of your manuscript, you may need to wait 4 to 5 minutes for it to generate in a new window. We have shown an example of what the start of the Character Analysis report looks like in the window below.
