What is Write Mode?

Write Mode is a feature for recording the time and word count of your writing sessions. It works within our integrations, including Desktop Everywhere and our browser extensions for Edge, Firefox, and Chrome.

Where can I use Write Mode?

You can use Write Mode in the writing apps that Desktop Everywhere supports, such as Scrivener, Apple Pages, and Notion. You can also use Write Mode when you open a web page in a supported browser for writing in apps such as Word for the Web, Google Docs, and Microsoft Outlook.

How does Write Mode work?

When you click on “Start Session” in Write Mode, a countdown timer begins. When the session ends, you can also enter how many words you have written.

What’s the benefit of Write Mode?

Write Mode helps you set a targeted time to focus solely on your writing with no distractions. You can enter your word count in each session and track progress over time in your Session History. It will help you understand how you write and build consistency and momentum.

Write Mode is not currently supported in the Microsoft Word app. You can still use Write Mode in Word for the Web via our browser extensions.
