How to tell us your word count
You can only submit your starting word count when you first sign up to a ProWritingAid account.
Telling us your word count will help us understand your progress with your story as you use ProWritingAid.
When you first sign up to a ProWritingAid account, we ask you some questions about the type of writer you are, your favorite writing tools, and how we can help you.
Now, we will also ask you how much writing experience you have, as shown in the image below.
Select the description that matches you best so we can streamline your setup with ProWritingAid.
Next, we will ask you how much you have written of your story so far, as shown in the image below.
Select the range for the number of words you have written so far. Alternatively, you can select “Enter exact word count.” A field will then appear where you can type the exact number of words you have written. And if you haven’t started your story, select “I haven’t started writing yet.”
Then click “Continue.” We will securely save your word count to your account.
Telling us how far along you are with your story will help us highlight the best tools for your needs. Plus, in the future, you will be able to track your progress when you continue to write.
Can I change the starting word count later?
No, you can only enter your starting word count once, when you sign up to a ProWritingAid account. Don’t worry if you don’t know your exact word count, as you can make a general estimate by selecting the most relevant range.
What if I don’t know or don’t want to add my writing experience or word count?
That’s ok, you can simply select “Skip” at either or both stages to continue signing up to ProWritingAid.
