Using Manuscript Analysis With Scrivener
To use Manuscript Analysis with Scrivener, you’ll need to install ProWritingAid Desktop Everywhere, which is available for Windows and Mac.
Before running Manuscript Analysis in Scrivener, switch to Scrivenings view to ensure your entire manuscript is analyzed as a single document.
Using a different view or not selecting the full manuscript may lead to a partial or incomplete analysis.
On Windows, Manuscript Analysis may currently provide feedback for individual chapters instead of the full manuscript.
In the meantime, you can export your manuscript and run Manuscript Analysis on a compatible writing app.
We’re actively working on a solution and expect to release a fix soon.
How to run Manuscript Analysis in your full manuscript
- Select your manuscript in the Binder.
Choose View > Scrivenings in the menu, or click on the Scrivenings icon in the toolbar.
- Your manuscript will appear in the Editor as one continuous document, even if it’s divided in several subdocuments.
- Click anywhere on the Editor.
- Click on the ProWritingAid icon, and then click the Critique button.
- Click on the Manuscript Analysis button to run the report on your document.
The analysis will take a few minutes to run, depending on the total word count of your manuscript.
You will see a notification with the approximate waiting time for your results. In the meantime, you can keep editing your manuscript as normal.
When the analysis is ready, you will be notified that the report is ready to review. It will appear in the Feedback History section (under the Critique menu) where the manuscript analysis report will be automatically saved.
Manuscript Analysis works with documents of up to 300,000 words. We recommend writing at least 4,000 words to ensure you get a meaningful amount of feedback on your writing.
