Which charity does Novel November support?

Every year, Novel November supports a different charity to celebrate the writers who take on the challenge. For 2026, we're proud to support First Story.

For every Novel November winner — that's every writer who reaches 50,000 words — ProWritingAid donates $1 to First Story. It costs you nothing extra: just by finishing the challenge, you're helping a young writer somewhere get the chance to tell their own story.

Who is First Story?

First Story is one of the UK's leading creative writing charities for young people. Through their Young Writers Programme, professional writers-in-residence work in secondary schools serving low-income communities, spending a whole school year with the same group of students to build their skills and confidence — and helping them publish their work in a printed anthology of their own. They also run writing competitions, festivals, and events, and support teachers with training and resources.

How your Novel November helps

It's simple:
