What is Novel November?
Novel November (NovNov) is a creative writing event that helps you write a 50,000-word manuscript in a single month with the support of bestselling authors.
When is Novel November?
Novel November starts at 0:00 (local time) on November 1st, 2025, and ends at 23:59 (local time) on November 30th, 2025.
How does Novel November work?
To take part, you need to register for Novel November first. The way you sign up for Novel November depends on if you have a ProWritingAid account or not.
If you are already logged into your ProWritingAid account with a Free, Premium, or Premium Pro plan, you will need to register with your existing account.
If you don’t have a ProWritingAid account, you will need to sign up for a free ProWritingAid account to participate.

Community support and published author mentors
Throughout November, we will support all participants in reaching the 50,000-word goal by the end of the month. We will host guided writing sprints, workshops, and exercises in our ProWritingAid Community to help you hit the target.
Madeline Miller (#1 New York Times bestselling author of The Song of Achilles), Mary Adkins (a USA Today bestselling author), Rufi Thorpe (bestselling author of Margo’s Got Money Troubles), and Jessica Brody (Save the Cat! Writes a Novel) will all be offering mentoring during Novel November.

When you’re taking part in NovNov, you will be able to track your progress using ProWritingAid where you write.
You can also access ProWritingAid’s 25+ writing reports to improve your story, no matter where you choose to write. Our real-time checker highlights issues with grammar, spelling, writing style, and more.
Where you can write
You can write your 50,000-word manuscript in our Web Editor or using our ProWritingAid integrations in your favorite writing app, such as Scrivener, Microsoft Word, or Google Docs.
Reaching your goal
During Novel November, you can keep track of your word count in your favorite writing app to see how much progress you’ve made. You’ll have access to a dedicated dashboard to keep you focused on making the milestone.
Plus, look out for our daily emails, writing sprints, and word count badges to keep you motivated throughout the month. If you reach 50,000 words by the end of November, you’ll receive a badge to display in your profile that recognizes your achievement.
What happens after Novel November ends?
If you manage to meet the goal of writing 50,000 words, you’ll have a lengthy manuscript to work with. Sign up for a Premium or Premium Plan to continue writing, editing, and refining your manuscript with unlimited runs of our 25+ writing reports.
