Where can I see my word count?

You can only submit your starting word count when you first sign up for a ProWritingAid account or first start the onboarding process for ProWritingAid.

Currently, you cannot check your word count when writing in our Web Editor or one of our integrations.

However, when you first sign up for a ProWritingAid account, we will ask you how much of your story you have written so far, as shown in the image below.

Select the range for the number of words you have written so far. Alternatively, you can select “Enter exact word count.” A field will then appear where you can type the exact number of words you have written. And if you haven’t started your story, select “I haven’t started writing yet.”

Then click “Continue.” We will securely save your word count to your account.

How to check word count in the Sentence Length Report

As another alternative, you can check the word count in your writing by using the Sentence Length Report.

If you’re using the Web Editor, click on the “Length” icon.

If you’re using a ProWritingAid integration, hover over the floating ProWritingAid icon. Click on “Reports,” then click on “Structure” to open the drop-down menu. Finally, click on “Length.”

To help you find it, here is an image of the “Length” icon below.

The Sentence Length Report will run. Under the title “Sentence Length Check,” you will see a list that shows the word count in your writing. The number in brackets next to “Num words” shows your word count. We have highlighted this in red in the image below.
