Why is ProWritingAid running Novel November again?
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) closed in April 2025. This meant there was a lack of large-scale, international creative writing challenges for budding story writers to pursue. After the huge success of our inaugural Novel November event in 2025, we received fantastic feedback and many requests from our users and Community members to run it again in 2026. That’s why Novel November is returning for its second year running.

What is Novel November?
Novel November (NovNov) is a ProWritingAid creative writing event that helps you write a 50,000-word manuscript in a single month with the support of bestselling authors. This year's event starts on November 1st, 2026, and ends on November 30th, 2026. There are also warm-up activities throughout the month of October.

Why is Novel November returning for a second year?
There was huge interest for our inaugural Novel November event last year. The aim for Novel November couldn’t be clearer: 50k words. 30 days. 1 novel. November has long been the traditional and most popular month for a timed writing challenge, so we wanted to step up to support the writing community again.
Why ProWritingAid?
We already have the platforms, features, and integrations in place to support such a large-scale writing initiative. ProWritingAid started in 2013, and over the past decade we have grown to over 4 million members. We will be ready to welcome many more writers who register for Novel November for free.
How do I sign up for Novel November?

If you are already logged into your ProWritingAid account with a Free, Premium, or Premium Pro plan, click the “Sign up” button, and you’ll see a page that confirms your registration for Novel November.
