Why won't the Desktop Editor open?
Issues with opening the Desktop Editor can happen for different reasons. Below, you will find some troubleshooting steps that may help you fix these issues.
We no longer support the Desktop Editor and won’t be updating this in the future. If you still use it, you may experience issues we are unable to control or resolve.
We recommend that you download ProWritingAid Desktop Everywhere for Mac or Windows, which works with the most commonly used writing apps.
If you use Windows:
Open your system’s File Explorer, and type in
%localappdata%/ProwritingAid Desktop
here:- Press Enter on your keyboard.
- Once the files load, remove the “applicationState.json” and “settings.json” files.
- Restart the app.
This should allow the Desktop Editor to open successfully.
If you use Mac:
- Go to the Library folder in your system’s Finder by pressing and holding the Option key, and then choosing Library. If you need help locating this folder, you can follow the instructions in this article.
Within Library, locate the Application Support folder and open it.
Open the folder titled ProWritingAid Desktop.
- Inside this folder, delete the “applicationState.json” and “settings.json” files.
This should allow the Desktop Editor to open successfully.
